Generations Forward is getting back to work and restructuring for its next phase.
Family Champion Network
Make Change in your community
Generations Forwards Parent Advocacy has always been a cornerstone of our work. Generations Forward parents have provided direction and advice to the County Council, County Executive and the Child and Family Well-being Task Force. Our voice guided a proposal to create an office of Children and Families within the County Government, the creation of the Child and Family Well-Being Task Force, and the Children’s Fund Levee. We know our voice has immense value and our experience needs consideration! Join the Family Champion Network and advocate for young families of Whatcom County! Please reach out and set up a time to chat about joining the network.
Group Peer Support
Real Talk, Really Safe!
Join a peer support group and have a place to share and listen to others. Everyone needs a place to have a real honest discussion. Research shows that peer support can improve people's wellbeing, meaning they have fewer hospital stays, larger support networks, and better self-esteem. Group peer support builds confidence and social skills. See our list of current and future group peer support sessions!
Got an idea for a peer support group? Reach out and let’s collaborate!
Parent Accountability Council
The guiding force of Generations Forward
The PAC combined with the Director and Steering Committee guide the work of Generations Forward. Join parents who are passionate about creating change in Whatcom County. Individualized roles and considerations are available for those interested. Though geared towards parents, the PAC welcomes caregivers and nonparents alike who are jazzed on taking actionable steps to help children and families. Reach out to set up a time to chat about joining Generations Forward’s PAC!
Building Family Partnerships Roundtable
Developing and sustaining real relationships
The Building Family Partnerships Roundtable is a space for parents and caregivers with lived experience navigating systems, services, schools, healthcare, housing, behavioral health, child welfare, disability supports, and other community resources.
We are parents who know what it feels like to sit at the table, speak up, and wonder if our voices are truly being heard. This roundtable is about changing that.
Together, we use our experiences to help professionals, organizations, and community partners better understand what is working, what is not working, and what families actually need. Our goal is not to speak for every family, but to bring honest parent perspective into the conversations where decisions are being made.
The roundtable also focuses on building real relationships — not checking boxes. We believe community voice should be gathered ethically, respectfully, and with accountability to the people sharing it.
Please reach out to learn more about joining the Building Family Partnerships Roundtable or partnering with parents who are using lived experience to help make a difference.
